Butter configuration options

General

Log channel

A channel in a Discord community where verification actions or events are logged and recorded.

Verified role

The role awarded when users pass verification.

Max concurrent verifications

The maximum number of users that can verify simeltaneously.

Note

This setting is not manually editable, and can only be changed by administrators. It is in place to keep the service running smooth for all users and prevent abuse by communities taking up our processing resources. If you find that users are running in to limits in your community, please join our support community and open a ticket

Constraints

Danger

Constraits may inadvertantly cause more friction for users. If you find that you are getting bot attacks that are bypassing Butter's systems, try changing your settings, or talking to us in our support community.

Require default avatar

Whether users are required to have a default avatar set on their account before they can verify successfully.

Tip

If the user has a default avatar, and wants to keep it, they will be instructed to download the default avatar and upload it to the app

Minimum account age

The minimum amount of time users have to have had their Discord account for a certain amount of time before they can verify in the community.

Warning

This may inadvertantly affect newly created accounts attempting to join your community. We reccomend to have a lower amount of minimum account age, but not too much that users are not turned off of joining your community.

Raid threshold

The amount of users joining simeltaneously to automatically take actions, like kicking users, blocking events, and disabling verification temporarily to save bot processing power

Note

This setting may be changed to be automatic and scale with the community's member counts and average users joining over arbitrary time periods.

Max accounts per IP

The number of accounts that are allowed verify ever in the community from a single IP address.

Blocked IP types

The blocked IP types setting allows the server administrator to block certain types of IP addresses from accessing the server. This can be used to prevent users using the following types of IP addresses to circumvent bans:

  • VPNs
  • Proxies
  • TOR
  • Suspicious IPs (associated with botnets and comprimised computers)
