Other security measures

To ensure that your community is 100% safe from attacks using Discord features, you should take the following measures:

  • Set a higher verification level
  • Only give users permissions they need (never manage server or administrator)

Verification level

The verification level is built in to Discord, and it requires members to meet certain restrictions before verifying

Some of these include: having an email on your account, being registered for 5 minutes, being in the community, and having a verified phone number

Tip

It is best to use a less restrictive option, like level 3 (medium), rather than having a phone number to prevent friction for users when joining your community

Don't give users you don't trust administrator permissions

It is important to be cautious when granting administrative permissions on Discord to users you do not fully trust. Administrative permissions allow users to perform actions such as deleting channels, banning users, and modifying community settings. If you grant these permissions to a user who is not responsible or trustworthy, they could potentially cause harm to the community and its members. It is always best to be cautious and only grant administrative permissions to users who have proven themselves to be responsible and trustworthy members of the community.

Additionally, be on the lookout for common scams, like QR codes to grab tokens, suspicious bots, and more
